徹底トレーニング英会話2008年07月01日(火)

【今日のスキット】
Ben:

Emi:

Judy:
○There is running water, isn't there?

running water 水道
最初、ラジオを聞きながらテキストを見ずにディクテーションしているのですが、「running waterって何?」と思いました。

Ben:
○Um, yeah. ... Usually. And the shower water usually stays warm, too.
===> Um, yeah. ... Usually. And the shower water usually stays warm, too.

Emi:
○Anyway, who stays where?
===> Anyway, who stays where?
○It looks like there are two bungalows joined together like a suite.
===> It looks like there are two bungalows joined together like a suite.

Ben:
○Yeah. Two rooms joined by a shared bathroom.
===> Yeah. Two rooms joined by a shared bathroom.

Judy:
○We have to share a bathroom?
===> We have to share a bathroom?

Ben:
△That's right. It was no problem when me and the guy stayed here.
===> That's right. It was no problem when me and the guys stayed here.
○Just knock before you go in.
===> Just knock before you go in.

「me and the guys」って表現もありなんですね。

【Let's Listen and Write!】
(1) 船から落ちた場合に備えて、救命胴衣を着用することになっています。
○You're supposed to wear a life vest in case you fall overboard.

(2) 緊急の場合に備えて、僕はいつもお金を少しとっておくようにしている。
△I always some keep money *** ***** in case there's emergency.
===> I always some keep money set aside in case there's an emergency.

(3) コンピューターが故障するといけないので、彼はデータのバックアップをしている。
△He backed up *** **** in case something goes wrong with this computer.
===> He backs up his data in case something goes wrong with his computer.
