「up in that direction」は、英作問題だと絶対間違いそうです。
「～の方向に」の場合、「in」を使うのは覚えるとして、「up」を挿入しようという気にならないですね。

(3) 昼食を食べてる暇はないから、なしですまさないと。
○There's no time for lunch, so I'll just have to do without.
===> There's no time for lunch, so I'll just have to do without.
