「Just the same ols same old」で「相変わらず」というのは初めて知りました。会話ではよく使いそうな表現です。

(2) のどが渇くといけないから飲み水を持ってきたんだ。

水を持ってきたのは過去のことですが、のどが渇く状態になるのはこれから先のことなので、「get thirsty」と現在形です。

(3) 家に着く前にかなりの距離を運転しなくてはいけない。
